Foxtrot

Foxtrot takes its name from its inventor, the vaudeville actor, Harry Fox. It is the sister of Quickstep in that like Quickstep it derived from Rag, the dance to accompany ragtime music. Slow Foxtrot is one of the five standard ballroom dances. Rhythm or Social Foxtrot is an easy dance and therefore a good entry point to ballroom dancing.

Slow Foxtrot is in 4/4 time and is danced to music at around 29 or 30 bars per minute.

Slow Foxtrot is characterised by smooth gliding across the dance floor.

Rhythm Foxtrot can be danced to a wide range of styles and tempi.
