Jive

Jive developed in the 1940s. It is a variation of the Jitterbug, a form of Swing dance. After the Second World War, it became a very popular dance. In 1968, Jive became the fifth International Latin dance in competitions.

Jive is danced to music in 4/4 time at around 43 bars per minute.

Jive is characterised by a combination of sudden light movements, turns and flicks and kicks. It is a very energetic and fun dance.
